Summer - Aquatics Manager

The Aquatics Manager, reporting directly to the Operations Manager, serves as the secondary leader on-site for Aquatic Facilities during the summer. The AM is responsible for overseeing aquatic pool operations through effective coordination, scheduling, and evaluation of various aquatic activities within the facility. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the overall development of personnel and operational needs for Aquatic staff throughout the season to foster an effective and productive work environment.

  • Mediating interpersonal conflicts among staff, patrons, and community members.

  • Establishing and setting goals for staff using the SMART goals approach.

  • Empowering staff to reach their full potential, regardless of circumstances.

  • Aiding in the creation and implementation of transparent systems for efficient staff management.

  • Coordinating schedules for pool personnel, activities, and private rentals to ensure optimal pool coverage while aligning with facility needs.

  • Assisting in the training and scheduling of qualified lifeguards, instructors, and other pool staff; directly supervising all aquatic personnel.

  • Conducting staff training and ensuring all staff certifications are current.

  • Ensuring adherence to high program standards and providing regular in-service training as needed.

  • Overseeing the implementation of a lifeguard deck rotation system for pool monitoring and deck operations.

  • Collaborating with Facility Manager to monitor the filtration system and other aquatic operating systems.

  • Conducting regular safety inspections of pools and equipment to minimize hazards and ensure patron safety.

  • Unlocking and locking the facility during weekdays and weekends to allow personnel entry and maintain security.

  • Surveying patrons and assessing programs to identify public needs and enhance program efficiency and effectiveness; addressing patron complaints and suggestions appropriately.

  • Managing recreation management software for all swim-related activities and events.

  • Assisting front counter staff with customer support, taking registrations, memberships, and addressing inquiries about facilities and programs.

  • Tracking and collecting data related to daily participation, participant demographics, activity types, and the most utilized pool areas.

  • Performing other related duties as required.

  • Serving as a lifeguard on the pool deck.

A Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a closely related field, plus three (3) years of directly related aquatics experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Previous experience as a lifeguard.

•The Department of Recreation will provide free lifeguarding recertification/CPR courses upon hire as needed. Recertification and CPR course dates will be provided at a later date.

*Note: Water park certifications will be required to work at Lincoln Park Pool.  These certifications will be provided by the Department of Recreation.
